If you are interested in the Russian culture, chances are that at some moment you considered learning Russian. And if you don’t speak any Russian yet, it means that you probably tried to learn it and dropped because the Cyrillic alphabet just did not want to surrender so easily. Or maybe you have been simply procrastinating and waiting for a better time to start…
If you recognize yourself in any of these descriptions, we have some exciting news for you!
A new site, russianalphabet.online, is created just for people like you!
The aim of the site is to help all those struggling with the Cyrillic letters.
The approach is based on the division of all the Russian letters into 4 groups:
- Letters that look and sound like in English,
- Letters that look like in English but sound differently,
- Letters that sound like in English but look differently,
- Letters with new to an English speaker sounds and looks.
The course starts with the familiar letters and slowly moves to unfamiliar ones, giving you enough examples to memorize and practice the letters that you have already learned. This way, you are learning new letters and practicing the learned ones at the same time.
All the letters, syllables and words on the site are accompanied by audio files recorded by a native Russian speaker. Pronunciation rules and tips are given to all letters and words that require it, as well as available all together on a separate page.
If you would like to practice hand-writted Russian, you can download worksheets available on each step of the course (or all together here).
At the end of the course, you can check yourself with a quiz.
We hope you get inspired to learn Russian with such a tool.
If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to send them via the contact form on the site.
